(Scot Yount, NECN: Cambridge, MA) - On Wednesday, Harvard held the first university-wide Sustainability Celebration. It marks the official launch of Harvard's new greenhouse gas reduction effort. The keynote speaker was an Alumnus: Former Vice President and Democratic Presidential nominee Al Gore. Harvard has committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 30 percent by 2016. The event was a called to action the university community to help accomplish the aggressive environmental goal. It also celebrated Harvard's broad environmental initiatives, including the critical contributions to teaching and research in the area. NECN's Scot Yount reports.
