| August 12, 2008 Bay State town donates Ambulance to Afghanistan
|
(Jennifer Eagan, NECN: Ashburnham, MA) - Firefighters in the town of Ashburnham, Massachusetts are shipping a package overseas. They're going to need a big box, because they're sending an ambulance all the way to Afghanistan.
More than six thousand miles separate the town of Ashburnham and Afghanistan, but a donation should bring the two closer together.
Ashburnham town administrator Kevin Paicos set out earlier this year to send an ambulance to Afghanistan.
He served as a medic for the National Guard in Afghanistan's Farah province.
He was shocked by the lack of ambulances...especially after a young boy was seriously injured and was brought to the hospital in the back of an old pick up truck.
