Big Dig debt gets deeper at $22 billion

(Latoyia Edwards, NECN: Boston, MA) - The Boston Globe has reported that the Big Dig debt will not be paid off until 2038 -- 30 years from now.

Taxpayers will be responsible for$18 billion of the $22 billion dollar debt stemming from the Big Dig.

About eighty-percent of state employees are paid on borrowed money due to this debt, making an employee who makes $18 an hour cost the state $28 an hour.

NECN's Latoyia Edwards has the report from Boston, MA.
