BOSTON (AP) - A Boston man has pleaded not guilty to a charge of
killing his girlfriend, who was found with multiple stab wounds in
her home in the city's Dorchester neighborhood.
A Dorchester District judge on Monday ordered Jose Torres to
undergo a psychiatric evaluation. The Boston Globe reports that a
court-appointed doctor said the 26-year-old was depressed and
suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder.
Police responding to an emergency call found 29-year-old Melissa
Santiago laying face down on the kitchen floor Sunday afternoon.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say the victim's four young children were at home during
the attack. They were unharmed.
