| March 26, 2008 Brockton teen shot dead; allegedly accidental

(NECN: Brockton, Mass.) - An 18-year-old man was in court Wednesday, charged with fatally shooting his 15-year-old friend. Apparently, William Suarez was showing off his gun when it accidentally went off and killed Oliver Baptiste of Brockton, Massachusetts.
Suarez is being held on $1,000,000 bail.
The shooting occurred about an hour after Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick came to that city on Tuesday to laud local and state police for a surge of officers that had prevented any shootings since mid-February.
There have been four homicides since the beginning of the year in Brockton.
NECN's Brad Puffer has the story.
