(NECN: New Bedford, Mass.) - An accused rapist who escaped from a New Bedford, Massachusetts hospital last month is back in custody. Anthony Flye was apprehended Monday afternoon on Route 6 in Westport.
It is not immediately clear how authorities spotted Flye.
Flye had escaped March 25 from a bathroom at St. Luke's Hospital, where he had been taken for treatment after injuring himself after jumping down a stairwell in a courtroom, and had been the subject of a manhunt by numerous law enforcement agencies.
Following his arrest, Flye was brought to the Dartmouth State Police barracks to be booked on warrants charging him with multiple rape and sexual assault crimes for incidents that occurred between 2004 and 2006, as well as a new warrant charging him with escape.
