| July 8, 2008 Gov. Patrick begins tour of Bay State

SALEM, Mass. (AP) - Gov. Deval Patrick, launching a statewide
town hall meeting tour, says there are "no silver bullets" to
solve the complex issues facing the state.
About 200 people came Tuesday evening to Salem's Armory Park to
share concerns about issues including energy prices, education and
public services.
One man on Social Security told Patrick he was having trouble
paying higher gasoline prices. Patrick said he favors conservation
to help stretch energy dollars, and also urged people to get home
energy audits before the costly winter heating season.
Patrick praised a 10-year-old Salem boy who said he helped raise
money to keep teachers on the payroll in a local financial crisis.
The governor has 10 more town meetings planned. He also plans to
take his cabinet meetings on the road, to Amherst, Lowell, New
Bedford and Worcester later this month.
