(Anya Huneke, NECN) - A jury is deliberating the case against Brian Rooney in Rutland, Vermont.
Rooney, 37, is charged with raping and killing University of Vermont student, Michelle Gardner-Quinn.
Gardner-Quinn, 21, of Arlington, Virginia, vanished after a chance Oct. 7, 2006 encounter with him and was found dead six days later.
Rooney's attorney says DNA evidence pointing to Rooney as the killer is not reliable and that the rest of the state's case relied on conjecture.
NECN's Anya Huneke has the latest.
