(NECN) - The Massachusetts Turnpike Authority is trying to boost usage of its "Fastlane" program.
The Boston Globe reports that the authority will launch a pilot program giving out five-thousand free transponders to drivers who fill out a survey explaining why they don't have one.
The turnpike authority hasn't said when the program will start.
Transponders typically cost just less than $26.
Last week, the pike announced it was considering massive toll hikes.
