(NECN: Josh Brogadir, Mashpee, Mass.) - It is always a difficult time when a town loses one of its own in wartime, so you can imagine the challenges now facing the community in Mashpee, Massachusetts.
In just two days, the Cape Cod town lost two young men in fighting overseas. Tonight, the town is preparing to honor their fallen heroes.
A candlelight vigil has been scheduled at the Mashpee Veterans Garden for 8:30 p.m. this evening.
The Pentagon says 19-year-old Marine Pfc. Daniel McGuire was
killed Thursday while on a security patrol in Fallujah, Iraq.
Army Pfc. Paul Conlon died Friday morning in Afghanistan when a
roadside bomb blew up his vehicle.
Three residents of Mashpee, a town of about 14,000 residents,
have died in either Iraq or Afghanistan.
