(John Moroney, NECN: Wayland, Mass.) - As we come out of the season's first heat wave, so too do the mosquitoes. As New England braces for the summer months, officials are starting early to prevent diseases like Triple E and West Nile virus.
In Plymouth County as in other places around the state, spraying for the insects has begun. In Burlington, Massachusetts crews were dropping packets of larvacide to kill the mosquitoes before they mature.
The mosquitoes that are out now, are mostly just an annoyance, and those in August and September are the ones that can carry the deadly diseases.
NECN's John Moroney has more.
