| June 23, 2008 NECN: "The Forgotten Fire", Part 5
|
For the families of the five people who died in the Boylston Street fire, there is shock that no one has ever faced charges in connection with the blaze.
To this day, none have been filed.
Five people, awake and alert at work, died in a fire on a sunny afternoon, on a busy street in one of the wealthiest communities in New England. The building had numerous code violations; interior construction work was done without proper permits, and there was a 23-minute delay between when the fire was started and when the first call was made to 911.
In the final chapter of “The Forgotten Fire,” Leslie Gaydos looks at where some of the major players in the story are now, and looks at the effort Newton lawmakers continue to ensure that a similar tragedy never again happens in Massachusetts.
