(Latoyia Edwards) - A 7-year-old girl has died after flash flooding in Ashland, New Hampshire.

That is in the state's Lakes Region.

The car that the girl was riding in flipped over in rising floodwaters.

New Hampshire rescue workers were in a losing battle, fighting blinding downpours as nearly four inches of rain flooded the Ames Brooke Campground in 35 minutes.

The unnamed family's vehicle was swept away at around 6 last night.

The father, mother and infant son managed to escape, clinging to a tree. But the 7-year-old girl never made it out of the SUV alive.

The Ashland New Hampshire Swiftwater Rescue Team located the girl's body three hours after she went missing.

The flood swollen brook is usually a couple of feet deep, but flash flooding turned it into a rapid river Thursday night.
