| July 9, 2008 New England governors combat high oil prices
|
(Peter Howe, NECN) - The summer heat may be the talk of the town, but governors here in New England are worried about the winter cold. They met Wednesday in Boston and called for a sharp boost in federal home heating aid amid soaring oil prices.
Four Governors, four different states, one topic in mind.
It was an extraordinary Gubernatorial summit meeting focused just on energy, heating oil specifically.
Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick, Maine's John Baldacci, Donald Carcieri of Rhode Island, and New Hampshire's John Lynch convened at the federal reserve bank in Boston.
The hottest topic... The cost of home heating oil which is up more than two dollars from last year, well over double the price.
NECN's Peter Howe has more.
