(Kristen Caira, NECN) - The son of a woman murdered in New Hampshire on Saturday morning has given details on the murder.
Matthew Riley said that his mother, Edith Riley, was beaten to death with a baseball bat by a man who entered the apartment. Her boyfriend was also beaten in the attack and was taken to the hospital. Riley said that the man walked off after the beating, smiling at Riley's daughter.
Todd Peter, 35, was arrested by police and faces second degree murder charges.
A neighbor said that it all started as a neighborhood dispute.
"We kept doing the right thing by calling the authorities and nothing was getting done," said Jennifer Tardiff, the victims' upstairs neighbor. "What does it take, for someone to get killed around here? That's exactly what I said yesterday, and look what happened."
Some of the prior incidents involved in the case were the several times that the victim's car windows were smashed in.
