(NECN: Newton, Mass.) - He's a 19-year-old college sophomore from Sudbury, Massachusetts. And after this 911 call in the aftermath of Wednesday's MBTA collision in Newton, Massachusetts, He's also a hero.
Ben Papapietro is credited with helping Min Perry, 37, of Wellesley, who was sitting in the seat behind trolley driver Terrese Edmonds, the lone fatality in the crash.
Papapietro comforted Perry even as he called 911, looking for help to get the trapped passenger out of the smouldering trolley.
Papapietro said he was in the rear car of the two-car trolley that hit the back of a stopped trolley. But hearing screams, he went into the front car and found Perry, with her legs wedged by twisted metal.
