CONCRETE, Wash. (AP) - Rescuers are helping two stranded hikers
from Massachusetts down from the 8,000-foot level of Spire Point in
Washington state.
The Skagit County Sheriff's office says the rescuers plan to
descend below cloud cover so they can be picked up by a helicopter
from a Navy air station.
The climbers - 33-year-old Matt Edwards and his 27-year-old
girlfriend Robin Gibson - have been stranded since Wednesday.
Rescuers reached the couple this morning. They reported the
climbers were wet and cold, but otherwise OK.
The couple had been trapped on an 18-inch ledge, but were able
to move yesterday to nearby Dana Glacier.
