(NECN: Vermont) - While Vermont Police search for missing 12-year-old Brooke Bennett, troopers have arrested her stepfather. 40-year-old Ray Gagnon of San Antonio, Texas is due in court, charged with aggravated sexual assault on a minor. That victim is not Brooke.
Police say he assaulted another minor in Vermont last year.
Police also say Gagnon's arrest is connected to the investigation of Brooke's uncle, Michael Jacques. Jacques is charged with sexually assaulting a young relative over a five-year period. That girl reportedly told police she had been enrolled in what police called a program for sex.
