(NECN) - Clark University police officer Michael Palermo and Worcester police officer Patrick Harrington were seriously injured in December of 2006 after responding to a call made by two college students.
They reported a man with a sherrif's badge had tried to lure them into his car.
Palermo and Harrington approached the car, the driver took off and they held on for dear life before it slammed into a pole.
Both officers suffered serious injuries.
The two officers were honored at the Main South CDC on Thursday for their efforts to protect the Main South community and ensure the safety of its residents.
