(NECN: Latoyia Edwards, North Andover, Mass.) - A school community united in grief Wednesday morning, in support of a fallen friend. 17-year-old Alex Farese died Monday after collapsing during a track meet last week.
Students walked the track of North Andover High School Wednesday in Farese's honor.
The track captain suddenly collapsed last week after running a 400-meter race.
His father, Richard, says his son had an undiagnosed heart defect and no symptoms. Farese's heart was being fed by the pulmonary artery instead of the coronary artery.
He passed away seven days after going into cardiac arrest.
