(NECN: Bethel, Vermont) - Vermont Police held a news conference regarding missing 12-year-old Brooke Bennett on Tuesday afternoon. The Vermont State Police are the FBI are working closely together on this case.
A second suspect in a child sex case has been arrested on federal charges and will appear in court Wednesday. Charges against 40-year-old Raymond Gagnon of San Antonio, Texas grew out of the investigation into last week's disappearance of 12-year-old Brooke Bennett of Braintree.
Gagnon is not charged with assaulting Brooke.
Gagnon's arrest is connected to the charge against Michael Jacques, the uncle of Brooke.
Gagnon was involved in an act that was a "violation of the law," according to police.
Jacques is one of the last people known to have seen Brooke. He continues to be a person of interest.
20-25 state search warrants have been issued. Police said they are not sure at this point in time if they anticipate further arrests.
At this point in time no other victims have come forward.
A candlelight vigil will be held in Randolph, Vermont Wednesday night for Brooke Bennett.
