(NECN: Boston, MA) - A Suffolk County grand jury has indicted 26-year-old Nicole Chuminski on first-degree murder charges in the fire that killed two children in South Boston.
Prosecutors say Chuminski set the fire at a home on West Sixth St., in South Boston after getting into a fight with the mother of the victims. Chuminski and the woman were reportedly involved in a relationship.
14-year-old Acia Johnson and her two-year-old sister, Sophia Johnson were found in an upstairs bedroom on April 6. The children's mother and brother were also injured. The grand jury also indicted Chuminski on arson and assault charges in the case.
The Suffolk County District Attorney's office says evidence place Chuminski near the scene at the time of the fire, and notes that traces of an accelerant recovered from Chuminski's clothing are consistent with an accelerant discovered on the door frame of the burned building.
