Dupre breaks silence on Spitzer scandal

(NECN/ABC) - The former escort linked to then New York Governor Eliot Spitzer has finally broken her silence. In an exclusive ABC News interview, Ashley Dupre speaks about the scandal that ended the career of one of the country's more prominent politicians, and the personal repercussions of her disastrous behavior.

It wasn't until she turned on the television that Ashley Dupre knew something was wrong. In an exclusive interview with Dianne Sawyer of "20/20," Dupre says she saw the man she knew as "Client Number 9" apologizing to his constituents.

As Spitzer announced his resignation, Dupre watched his wife, Silda, instead.

The scandal propelled the 22-year-old into the spotlight. Racy pictures made the rounds of various media outlets, forcing Dupre to disclose her secret career as an escort to those closest to her.

Despite the scandal, Dupre says she wants to begin a new chapter in her life, through a new career in music.

ABC's Diana Alvear reports.
