| November 22, 2008 Report: Summers for top economic post
|
(NECN) - An ABC News report says that President-Elect Barack Obama has decided to name former Treasury Secretary Lawrence Summers as the Director of the National Economic Council.
In essence, this move would make Summers the President-Elect's senior economic adviser.
Before coming to Washington, Summers had a distinguished academic career as the Nathaniel Ropes Professor of Political Economy at Harvard University.
He served as Treasury Secretary from 1999 to 2001, and also had a stint as chief economist for the World Bank.
