| November 2, 2009 Final push in Worcester mayoral race
|
(NECN: Kenneth Craig, Worcester, Mass.) - By late Monday morning, the final push was well underway.
City Councilor At-Large and mayoral candidate Kate Toomey went door to door in one of Worcester's Upper West Side neighborhoods.
Less than 24 hours remained before city voters took to the polls, time the four mayoral candidates are not wasting.
For Toomey, it means hitting the pavement and reaching out to voters. It is her first run for mayor, and the city councilor and former school committee member said each vote counts.
Just down the road, a team of volunteers at Joe O'Briends campaign headquarters kicked off the morning by making calls. For O'Brien, it was lots of bi-lingual voice mails to District 4 residents.
The former school committee member is a District 4 resident himself. He is making a final push in the area, focusing on the college students and potential first-time voters.
Meanwhile, the incumbent Mayor Konnie Lukes stayed confident, making a few last-minute calls from her law office and hoping her strong base will land her a second term as mayor.
Emmanuel Tsitsilianos, the self-titled urban renewal and restoration expert also made the rounds, hitting the streets in much quieter fashion than his opponents.
