| August 26, 2008 Leahy: Obama is what rural America needs
|
(NECN: Denver, CO) - Vermont Governor Patrick Leahy spoke to the Democratic National Convention Tuesday. His address focused on rural issues, and the role the next president will play in the success of rural America.
Leahy says that rural America needs a change that Barack Obama offers. He suggests that George Bush and Dick Cheney have left rural America behind to "side with big business".
He says that Barack Obama will give rural America what it really needs, "good new jobs with a clean energy initiative". He went on to say "Unlike John McCain for whom the internet is a mystery, Barack Obama understands that rural communities can not be competitive until there is high speed internet across the heartland."
