| October 22, 2008 McCain: Goal is not to redistribute wealth, but to create it

(NECN: Manchester, NH) - John McCain is back in New Hampshire this morning. He held a campaign rally at Saint Anselm College in Manchester before making his way to Ohio.
"Every once in a while, my opponent gives us a glimpse of what an Obama presidency would be like in the real world...we need to help small businesses and not raise their taxes," said the Republican presidential nominee.
"As he told Joe (the plumber), Barack Obama wants to "spread the wealth around," in other words, Joe and guys like him will earn the wealth, Barack and politicians like him, will spread it," said McCain. "The redistribution of wealth is the last thing America needs right now."
"The goal is not to redistribute wealth, but to create it," said McCain.
"I'll take a cleaver, and I'll take a meat axe and I'll take a scalpel and we'll stop this out of control spending," said McCain.
The Republican nominee won the state's primary in 2000 and again earlier this year, but there are signs the state is tilting toward Democrat Barack Obama in the November 4 general election.
Recent polls have shown Obama, an Illinois senator, with a lead no smaller than 7 percentage points, prompting speculation that McCain may have to surrender the state's four electoral votes and focus elsewhere if he hopes to cobble together the 270 needed to become president.
