| August 21, 2008 Obama: If you want economic growth, 'choice should be clear'

(NECN: Chester, Virginia) - Barack Obama held a discussion on the economy at John Tyler Community College in Chester, Virginia this morning.
"Understandably people are anxious...at the end of the day it is harder to save and it is harder to retire...we are not sure if whether or not we will be able to pass on a better life to our children and our grandchildren, which is the essence of the American Dream," said the Democratic presidential hopeful.
"There is just a fundamental gap of understanding between John McCain's world and what everyday people are going through every single day here in America. We can't afford eight more years or four more years or one more year of the same policies that George Bush has put in place," said Obama.
"John McCain wants to give, not only the same George Bush tax breaks to the wealthiest Americans, but he wants to double down and provide $300 billion in additional tax breaks to some of the most successful, wealthiest companies in the country," said Obama.
"Under my plan, 95% of families would get a $1,000 tax break, a tax cut, to get some relief...stimulate the economy...independent economists have said that my tax plan would provide three times the amount of relief to the middle class family than John McCain's," said Obama. "The choice should be clear...you will be voting for Barack Obama come November."
