Obama: Needs to be 'equal pay for equal work'

(NECN: New Philadelphia, Ohio) - Barack Obama held a discussion on woman and the economy at Kent State university this afternoon.

"I think now is the time to change our tax codes so they are working for you," said Obama. "John McCain has proposed a tax plan that says we are going to give $200 billion worth of additional tax breaks to corporations that are already making out like bandits."

"What's worse, 100 million people would not get a single dime of relief under John McCain's plan. Under my plan, 95% of Americans would get a tax cut. 95% of Americans would pay less in taxes under my plan," said the Democratic nominee for president.

"We are finally going to have a serious energy policy in this country. We are going to invest $15 billion a year in solar and wind and biodiesel. We can put millions of people back to work."

"When I am president of the United States, we are going to pass equal pay for equal work. It's a simple principle, it's a basic principle."
