| September 4, 2008 Obama campaign hits back against Palin comments

(NECN/ABC) - With just one day to go in the Republican National Convention, the race for the White House is headed into the home stretch. Exactly two months from today, America will go to the polls and pick the 44th president of the United States. And, that has Barack Obama and Joe Biden honing their rhetoric against the Republican team.
With Republicans revitalized after Sarah Palin's breakout speech, the Democratic presidential ticket is on the defensive. Senator Biden criticized Palin and the other Republican speakers for offering no solutions to help middle class Americans struggling with low wages and high gas prices. But, he drew the line on his line of attacks.
Democrats are trying to frame their attacks on John McCain and his running mate on issues, like the economy.
Political strategists say, right now, the Democrats are proceeding with caution because they don't want to come off as sexist bullies. That could turn off female voters. But, the Republicans aren't playing it safe.
Palin, who describes herself as a "hockey mom" with a bite of a pitbull, attacked Obama's experience, even though she has been governor of Alaska less than two years, herself.
ABC's Viviana Hurtado reports.
