| July 23, 2008 Obama tries to reassure Israelis and Palestinians

(NECN/ABC) - Senator Barack Obama continues his trip abroad today, now in Israel. He's working both sides of what could be the most explosive foreign policy issue of his administration should he become commander-in-chief. The divide between Israel and the Palestinians, all the time, keeping an eye on the nuclear ambitions of nearby Iran.
Just a few miles from Gaza, Senator Obama showed his concern for Israel's security. At the police station in Sderot they collect the rockets that until recently landed almost everyday.
And Israel's security and his commitment to it, has been front and center all day long.
For Israelis the big security issue is Iran - preventing an Iranian bomb is at the very top of Israel's agenda.
