(NECN/KMSP: St. Paul, MN) - Police in St. Paul have handcuffed two people at a protest at the State Capitol. Officers were on the scene on horseback and bicycles.
One witness says an officer was pushed off his bicycle and that's when the two people were taken into custody. That sparked the crowd to begin chanting "let them go!"
War protesters have held demonstrations throughout this week's Republican National Convention. Mounted police blocked a bridge Thursday as hundreds of anti-war protesters tried to march from the state Capitol to the Xcel Energy Center where Sen. John McCain was due to accept the GOP nomination for president.
Police blocked the bridge, which runs over Interstate 94 about a quarter-mile from the convention site, after the protesters' march permit had expired.
Through Wednesday (9/3), more than 400 arrests had been made in conjunction with protests in the Twin Cities.
Material from the Associated Press is included in this report.
