(Alison King, NECN: St. Paul, MN) - Making up for a lost day of hardcore convention speaking, the Republicans came out in full support of John McCain, while throwing a few barbs at Democratic candidate Barack Obama.
Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman called Obama eloquent, but lacking the proven record to handle the presidency in these tough times.
Senator Fred Thompson called out the Democrats, saying that the Congress under their control is the least accomplished in United States history. He also called their plan "the same stuff they've been peddling for years" -- not change.
President Bush also backed McCain, saying that his personal experience as president has him believing that McCain is ready for the job.
NECN's Alison King was in St. Paul and has the story.
