(Jennifer Eagan, NECN: Worcester, MA) - Months of speculation ended as presumptive Republican presidential nominee John McCain selected the first woman to ever appear on a Republican presidential ticket as his running mate.
Forty Four year old Alaskan governor Sarah Palin is a relative unknown to the mainstream. But local republicans like Brent Anderson say Palin's name has been floated as a possible pick for some time.
Palin...a mother of five and self described "hockey mom"...didn't enter the political scene until the early 90's but rose quickly through city government.
Palin has built a reputation as a maverick...much liker her political partner...fighting corruption in government.
