| August 28, 2008 Richardson: America will pay for McCain's flip-flops
|
(NECN: Denver) - New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson spoke ahead of Barack Obama's highly anticipated acceptance speech.
Richardson wasted no time attacking presumptive Republican nominee John McCain and President Bush. He said "We need a president who respects civil liberties, stops spying on Americans and protects a woman's right to choose. Respects The Bill of Rights, shuts down Guantanamo and stops torture."
Richardson said that Americans need change. "John McCain has only changed his mind... on taxes, immigration, global warming, even torture. "Then, suggesting McCain's wealth, he said "John McCain may pay hundreds of dollars on his shoes, but we're the ones who will pay for his flip-flops."
Governor Richardson closed by saying, "we honor his service, that doesn't mean we have to make him president."
