(Scot Yount, NECN) - Senator Edward Kennedy underwent successful surgery on a brain tumor at Duke University on Monday.
Kennedy was awake during the 3.5 hour procedure, according to Dr. Allan Friedman.
The 76-year-old now will now be treated with chemotherapy and radiation.
Kennedy decided to have surgery at Duke after consulting experts around the country.
