(Alison King, NECN) - The push and pull continues in the Democratic race. Massachusetts Senator Edward Kennedy, an Obama supporter, believes it is time for Clinton to stand aside. But party officials are also being pressed to let the process play itself out, with the contested primaries in Florida and Michigan part of the calculus.
Case in point, a quiet meeting Thursday night in Providence between Democratic National Chairman Howard Dean and a group of Clinton loyalists.
NECN’s Alison King has details.

Massachusetts Senator Ted Kennedy has now joined the growing ranks of Democratic Party leaders who consider the race for the nomination a fait accompli.
Referring to the race in the past tense, Kennedy says the voters chose Obama because he represents the future over the past.
Meanwhile, Clinton supporters are loathe to discuss the possibility of defeat - preferring to focus their efforts on the votes in Michigan and Florida.
Boston Representative Marie Saint Fleur was one of more than a dozen women including Senate President Therese Murray and other Democratic activists -- all supporters of Senator Clinton -- who traveled to Providence, Rhode Island on Thursday for a meeting with Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean.
Women in this group, known as "Every Vote Counts," believe, win or lose for Clinton, the Michigan and Florida votes need to be counted if Obama wants their full and enthusiastic
support in the fall.
