(NECN/ABC) - The new FISA bill was passed by the Senate and signed by President Bush.
This bill renews the right for the government to record domestic phone conversations and protects the phone companies from any lawsuits -- both past and present -- stemming from this practice.
Barack Obama voted in favor of the bill, while John McCain did not attend the vote.
