(NECN) - One can cite lots of distinctions for the finale of the Democratic Convention in Denver. First African-American Presidential nominee, first acceptance speech in a stadium packed with 80,000 people.
One of those people was Oprah, and if her tears are any indication, this event made a deep emotional impact on many Americans. It was the largest TV audience ever for a presidential nominee. More viewers than the opening ceremony of the Olympics in fact.
As for the speech, the reviews were mostly glowing. And as for Barack Obama, he was sharper than ever in taking the fight to John McCain.
R.D. Sahl hosts this edition of Newsnight. To discuss Obama's historic night are; Holly Robichaud, political consultant and "The lone Republican" in the weekly political blog of the Boston Herald, Sheila Capone-Wulsin, Executive Director of the Massachusetts political caucus and David Paleologos, director of the political research center at Suffolk University in Boston.
