(NECN) - In the science of schizophrenia, there is some exciting new research that could eventually help those who suffer from the disorder.

Dr. Duane Hill briefs us on the new hope found in the research.

Schizophrenia is a disease of the brain and nervous system that affects about one percent of adults. Hallucinations and extreme fear are among the symptoms.

The genome of about 2,500 people suffering schizophrenia was mapped in a study for the first time.
