(NECN) - Sales of high-tech items like video games, and especially HDTVs, are climbing. Even though the economy is slumping, nearly 30% of U.S. households plan to purchase an HDTV this year.
Script:
America is crazy for high definition television. Sales of high-def are booming. 28 million American homes, one in four, now have one. Five million were added last holiday and Super Bowl season, and 10 million households now own two or more HD sets.
TV stations are racing to meet demand for high def content. ABC.com and Apple TV are two big sources. NECN is developing a strategy to migrate to HD in the future and HDTV websites are popping up, like Hulu, Joost, and Veoh. One headache: getting high def content from your computer to your TV screen. That's where a Littleton, Massachusetts startup company, Zee Vee, comes in.
Over three years, Zee Vee has been perfecting a device that lets you connect every high def set in your house to your computer, using existing cables and outlets in your home. This week it went on sale for $500 dollars.
