Looking to spend eternity in space?

(NECN/ABC) - This was not your ordinary rocket launch into space -- on board were human remains. A company called Celestis says the remains become part of the everlasting universe. Kind of.

Charles Chafer/Celestis President: "You remember Jackie Gleason yelling to the moon, Alice. Well, now loved ones can go to the moon and land in a lunar rover."

This kind of funeral is for who exactly?

Among the people who have had celestial funerals are Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry and actor James Duhan, who played Mr. Scott.

The remains fly on commercial rockets that have available space.

How much does it cost? $1,000 for a quick trip to space or $10,000 for the moon.

Family and friends show up for the launch just as they would for a more traditional funeral.

An after-life experience that is truly out of this world
