| October 13, 2008 On the web: A savior for Sovereign?
|
(NECN: Ted McEnroe) - Some possibly positive news for Sovereign Bank customers today - a sign of stability. The Wall Street Journal and other publications are reporting that Spanish bank Santander is working to buy the 75% of Sovereign that it doesn't already own.
Meanwhile, the economy has been big news for weeks, but there have been few places where people can find clear and concise explanations of what's really going on in the world of credit default swaps and hedges.
But there's one place you might not expect that is being praised up and down for its coverage. The NPR weekly show, "This American Life." The show, and the NPR blog "Planet Money" have been doing a great job taking the complicated concepts and bringing them down to earth. If you have time, their podcasts are a good way to get a grip on what's going on.
Another big winner? Ben Bernanke = whose book "Essays on the Great Depression" is climbing up the charts.
