| November 20, 2008 Yankees shift ownership to Hal Steinbrenner
|
NEW YORK (AP) - Major League Baseball owners have approved the
shift of control of the New York Yankees from George Steinbrenner
to his son, Hal.
The owners approved the change Thursday. Hal Steinbrenner and
his brother, Hank, took over most of the daily operation of the
Yankees from their father last fall. George Steinbrenner bought the
Yankees in 1973 and became one of the most high-profile owners in
all of sports.
Hal Steinbrenner calls his father "a tough act to follow."
