(NECN) - **This video clip contains vulgar language** The NHL has suspended Dallas Stars forward Sean Avery indefinitely. The suspension was handed down for making "inappropriate public comments, not pertaining to the game." Following a morning skate, Avery called over all of the reporters in the locker room, and said "I'm really happy to be back in Calgary, I love Canada," he said. "I just want to comment on how it's become like a common thing in the NHL for guys to fall in love with my sloppy-seconds." Shaking his head, Avery said "I don't know what that's about, but enjoy the game tonight." Avery's remarks came following a morning skate in Calgary, where the Stars were playing the Flames Tuesday night. He referenced his former girlfriend, Elisha Cuthbert, who is now romantically linked to Flames defenseman Dion Phaneuf. Cuthbert had also been linked to Mike Komisarek of the Montreal Canadiens. Avery also dated model and actress Rachel Hunter, the girlfriend of Los Angeles Kings center Jarrett Stoll. Avery will meet with Commissioner Gary Bettman before his punishment is settled.
