| January 2, 2009 USC's Sanchez dominant in Rose Bowl
|
(NECN/ABC) - Quarterback Mark Sanchez threw for 413 yards and four touchdowns in USC's 38-24 victory over No. 6 Penn State in Thursday's Rose Bowl.
USC's defense dominated much of the game, as the Trojans led 31-7 at halftime. It was the most points USC had scored in the first half of any of the school's 33 Rose Bowl games.
The Nittany Lions scored 17 points in the fourth quarter, at least making the final score respectable in the box score.
USC is out of the BCS Championship mix, having lost 27-21 to Oregon State on September 25th. The Pac-10 loss hurt the Trojans chances big time, since the conference was considered to be weak this season.
