(NECN) - The Boston Celtics will try to defend their NBA title without Kevin Garnett. KG injured his right knee back on February 19th, and has played in just four games since, all with limited minutes.
He was thought to be returning for last couple games of the regular season, but according to team doctors, Garnett's leg has regressed. Doc Rivers says he will miss the first round, and possibly the entire playoffs.
Ray Allen is remaining confident despite the loss of KG.
He says, "We still feel good with what we're capable in making this championship run. I have faith in Perkins, I have faith in Big Baby, I have faith in Mikki Moore, and all the other guys."
He says, "It's just important we focus on the things we need to do because Kevin is one guy that we definitely wish was out there on the floor." He adds, "If he can't be out there on the floor then he's just got to help us from the sideline."
