(NECN: Mike Giardi, Pawtucket, R.I.) - Red Sox pitching prospect Michael Bowden had his cup of tea with the big club -- twice. But the righthander is preparing himself for a longer stay in the Major Leagues, whenever that time may come.
Pitching for Triple-A Pawtucket, Bowden put up some great numbers to start the year.
"I did start well this year, and hopefully it keeps going," Bowden said.
With the Red Sox in a pinch earlier in the season, Bowden joined the team for one stint out of the bullpen. He tossed two innings, striking out a pair.
Bowden is one of a slew of young Red Sox pitchers who have made an impact at the big league level. Among them -- Justin Masterson, Daniel Bard and Clay Buchholz.
"They have faith in us -- the young guys -- to go up there and do our job, keep them in ballgames and do what we're supposed to do," Bowden said. "It's just kind of a tribute to them, knowing that they have faith in us to go up there and do what we need to do."
Bowden said that his goal is to reach the Big Leagues for good with the Red Sox.
