July 1, 2009 Montville discusses Ted WIlliams on eve of documentary premiere Play video

(NECN) - On the eve of the Boston premiere of "The Kid", a new HBO documentary on Boston Red Sox great Ted Williams, longtime Boston Globe sports columnist Leigh Montville came to NECN to discuss Williams, the documentary and the slugger's legacy.

Montville was one of dozens of people talked to for the documentary, which debuts HBO July 15. Montville's biography of Williams came out in 2004, and is widely considered one of the best treatment's of the life of the "Splendid Splinter" on and off the field.

He spoke with NECN's Chris Collins on Sports Late Night.
