| July 6, 2009 Reports: Wallace to sign with Celtics

(NECN: Boston, Mass.) - Free agent forward/center Rasheed Wallace has committed to sign with the Boston Celtics, according to multiple media reports.
Wallace most recently played with the Detroit Pistons, averaging 12 points and 6.3 rebounds per game in the 2008-2009 season. He is not allowed to sign a contract until July 8th, per NBA rules.
Standing at 6'11, Wallace would give the Celtics some much-needed height in the Eastern Conference. The Celtics lost to the Orlando Magic in the Eastern Conference semi-finals, a team boasting budding superstar center Dwight Howard.
The Celtics reportedly sent an armada of recruiters to meet with Wallace and his wife in Michigan last week. Traveling with owner Wyc Grousbeck and GM Danny Ainge were, reportedly, Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce.
The deal will be for two years at the mid-level exception, according to Jeff Goodman of WEEI.com.
CSNNE's Gary Tanguay reported via his Twitter account that Wallace did not meet with any other suitors [sic]:
